RING MAKING WORKSHOPS in the heart of Helsinki
FROM WAX TO SILVER
Join us for a relaxed, hands-on workshop in Helsinki where you design and make your own ring. We guide you through carving your ring in wax, then we cast and finish it in silver. You just show up, get creative, and enjoy the process.
No experience needed.
YOUR RING MAKING EXPERIENCE
-
You sketch a ring and carve it out from jewellers wax using various hand tools. The whole experience lasts 3 hours.
-
At the end of the workshop the creation stays with us
-
The ring is sent to Raiskinen OY in Kirkkonummi who casts the rings in silver, using the lost-wax-casting technique.
-
After casting, the ring needs to be worked on and polished to become a wearable piece of jewelry. This is our responsibility as professional goldsmiths.
-
About two weeks after the workshop you will receive the finished silver ring in the mail, or a notification for a pickup location in Helsinki. You choose between these options at the workshop.

It's a special place, built for workers in 1881. With tall windows, and a lot of history — it's perfect for getting creative.
Our workshop is set up in the community building within the area. A lively space where local residents take saunas and arrange pastime activities.
We’ll meet you at the gates of Ruoholahden Villat when you arrive for a workshop.

ABOUT US
Hi, we’re Susanne and Jens, the people behind Sölv. We’re trained goldsmiths who became friends at school. In jewellery making, we found the simple joy of being creative and making things that last. To us, jewellery shouldn’t feel intimidating or out of reach.
That’s exactly why we want to share wax carving with you. It’s a technique goldsmiths have used for ages, but it’s easy for anyone to pick up. It’s playful and intuitive, and we teach it in the simplest way we can.
With Sölv, we want to create a relaxed space where everyone feels welcome — a place to get absorbed in your own project and have fun. Also, we just love seeing your rings turn into silver.
P.S. Susanne is from Finland and Jens is from Norway. “Sölv” is a rewriting of the Norwegian word for silver (sølv), with the Finnish ö thrown in. We thought it looked good.
